A Look Inside: Bumpas

Bumpa’s is a charming, family-owned Irish pub in the French Quarter of Charleston. It is housed in a beautifully restored, rustic 19th-century warehouse and is owned and operated by brothers Dan and Connor Sullivan. Bumpa’s is lovingly named after Dan and Connor’s late grandfather, Bumpa.

Bumpa’s is known for its high-quality comfort food, including customizable fry plates and Scotch eggs, craft cocktails, local brews, the best Guinness in town, and a welcoming team and atmosphere.

Bumpa’s also loves to host live music performances by local artists and watch parties for big games so be on the lookout for upcoming events and specials.

The Interior

When the Bumpa’s team purchased 5 Cumberland Street, the building underwent a complete restoration and renovation of the interior and exterior, which resulted in them being awarded the Carolopolis Award by The Preservation Society of Charleston for their exceptional restoration work both inside and outside. The interior of Bumpa’s is warm and welcoming, with brick walls, wooden beams, and a wooden ceiling. The bar area at Bumpa’s is quite spacious, with high tops and standing room for guests to socialize and enjoy watching sporting events. In addition, there are booth seating and tables that can accommodate larger groups.

The Interior of Bumpa’s also features a gallery wall of customers’ framed photos of their grandparents in honor of Bumpa’s being a tribute to the Sullivan brother’s grandfather, Bumpa.

The Menu

Bumpa’s restaurant offers a delicious menu that includes a range of filling options such as customizable loaded fries, Scotch eggs wrapped in country sausage and fries, chili, burgers, and more. The owner, Dan Sullivan, has created some tasty menu items and two of his go-to orders are a double mozzarella custom fry order with Bumpa’s house-made barbecue sauce, and the Stag and Boar Burger, which pays homage to Bumpa’s logo that features the Sullivan family crest.
