November 8, 2024

Introducing Legami, Charleston’s newest culinary gem, which opened its doors on October 9th! Legami is all about bringing people together over unforgettable meals, warm hospitality, and inspired flavors. Legami has a team of Italian chefs from Italy, here in Charleston, exclusively for their restaurant. Andrea, their Executive Chef, is from Rome. Massimo and Mauro, their two Chefs de Cuisine, are from Torino, Italy. They have brought Charleston creative and traditional Italian recipes focusing on using natural ingredients and a delightful mix of the modern and old world Italian cuisine.

Step inside to discover a cozy atmosphere, a menu crafted with passion, and a place where friends and family can savor every moment together.

The Interior

Owner Tyler Ropolo exercised his vision and design throughout the transformation of 492 King Street. A few years ago, upon seeing the old structure Tyler said it reminded him of a wonderful magical villa he calls home in Torino, Italy. Legami is the perfect place to meet friends, connect, relax in a space that makes you feel at home.

As the owners grew up in Italy, they were exposed to beautiful old structures and food that was prepared seasonally using natural ingredients, served in a welcoming home environment surrounded by friends and family. The philosophy of Legami is everything made at home, gathering fresh herbs right outside the door.

Legami is welcoming and relaxed right when you walk in! The second floor lounge area might remind you of being in Italy – relaxing at home with friends after dinner, with an outdoor terrace as an option.

The Exterior

Legume has a lovely outdoor seating area that’s perfect for enjoying the fresh air, along with a cozy little bar. Plus, don’t miss their upstairs covered patio—it offers a breathtaking rooftop view and really gives you that comfy, at-home vibe!

The Menu

Chef Andrea’s highly recommended dishes include the Shrimp and Caviar, where shrimp is reimagined as spaghetti topped with Italian sturgeon caviar, and the Squab, a unique combination of beetroot and anchovy mayo that balances sweet, salty, and tangy flavors. Legami is accommodates dietary preferences so everyone feels welcome! One highlight is the beetroot sfogliatella, a vegetarian dish featuring a “lobster tail” made from beets with goat cheese, paired with a tasty beet salad—a fun twist on simple ingredients.
