A Look Inside: The Bays

October 18, 2024

Welcome to The Bays Golf Simulator has just opened in August 2024 on Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant, offering an innovative golfing experience for players of all levels. This state-of-the-art facility brings the passion for golf indoors, with advanced technology that allows guests to play on virtual replicas of world-renowned courses. The Bays was thoughtfully designed to allow for a space where people could play a round and hone their skills on their own schedule, with their 24/7 model you can play after bedtime, before work, on your lunch break, before a date night, empowering convenience and flexibility for a sport that is notoriously time intensive and often inaccessible.

The Interior

The Bays emphasizes the importance it was to create a community space, not just a virtual driving range. Many hours were spent refining the layout and details so people could just as easily gather with friends, compete in a golf tournament, or enjoy solo-play. Their member lounge offers a warm and inviting area to relax before or after your tee time. They included a card table for poker games or mahjong, seven TVs with NFL Sunday Ticket for game days, and a BYOB wet bar for unwinding or entertaining guests. Members, corporate sponsors, and select groups can inquire about renting the space for special events.

A great feature about The Bays is their private bay which is fully enclosed for small groups to gather away from the open semi-private bays, and it includes a large TV where you can cast presentations or meeting agendas.

They offer 4 total bays, made up of 3 semi-private “social” bays and 1 fully enclosed privacy bay. There’s seating at each bay for friends, spouses, or colleagues to spend time together during play.

The Details

The Bays offers several different ways to access the space, and are currently a members-only facility outside of special events with partners. Memberships are month to month and the latest membership levels and pricing can be found on their website.

A key feature about The Bays is their in-house pro Rich Hubbard.  He assists with onboarding, lessons, and general support to achieve the final touches on the clubhouse experience.

Finishes like their plaid wallpaper and tufted leather sofa give a cozy nod to traditional golf clubhouses. Throughout the space golf-inspired easter eggs, like the “birdies” in the restroom and gold alligator door stopper—gators of course being a staple of lowcountry golf courses. All design work was in-house, spearheaded by co-owner Dana Susina. Dana’s grandfather’s vintage golf clubs are shown on the walls in their member lounge.

The Bays Golf Simulator brings a one-of-a-kind experience to Charleston, blending advanced golf technology with a fun, social atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot for improving your game using PGA-level simulators or enjoying a relaxed family night out. Open 24 hours, it offers something for everyone, from solo training to group events, all in a luxurious, welcoming environment designed to make golf accessible and enjoyable year-round!
