Take a look inside Charleston’s speakeasy Scotty Doesn’t Know. One of Charleston’s best-kept secrets is hidden behind the newly-opened Charleston Custard and Candy Shop and Big Johns Tavern on East Bay Street. Upon entering the colorful custard shop, head to the back door, where a doorbell is hidden behind the drink fridge. Ring the bell to kick off your evening of cocktails, wine, and bites in the relaxing hideaway.

The Menu

The Menu at Scotty Doesn’t Know has unique, high-quality cocktails, wine, and champagne. If you want something refreshing and creative, order the Flowers Cocktail (Tanqueray gin, strawberry-infused Aperol, egg white, lemon, simple syrup). The speakeasy also offers small bites, including a macaron board, cheese board, cashews, and olives.

Guru Tip: Be sure to ask the team about their specialty drink made in an old-school Siphon Coffee Maker—they craft seasonal sake infusions in the traditional coffee maker.
