A Look Inside: Indaco

April 12, 2024

Step inside Indaco, a rustic Italian restaurant located on King Street in Downtown Charleston. Indaco is run by the The Indigo Road Hospitality Group, who are the masterminds behind O-Ku, Oak Steakhouse, and many more restaurants and hotels. This popular restaurant, which has over 1,100 Google reviews and a 4.6 rating, offers a wide range of mouth-watering dishes, including wood-fired pizzas, homemade pastas, sausages, and other seasonal specialties, all curated by the Culinary Director of Italian Concepts for Indigo Hospitality Group, Mark Bolchoz. Charleston Guru stopped by to get a look inside.

The Interior

Indaco has a warm and inviting atmosphere with plenty of seating at the bar, large high-top tables, and a chef’s counter where diners can watch the chefs cook delicious wood-fired pizzas.

Indaco offers happy hour at the bar Monday through Friday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Happy hour includes $6-$14 bites (including a $10 daily pizza special), $7 select cocktails, and $7 house wine. Follow Indaco on Instagram to get a glimpse at the daily pizza specials.

The Exterior

The patio at Indaco is a great place to admire the view of King Street while enjoying a refreshing Negroni or a glass of Italian wine accompanied by some fresh pasta.

The patio is spacious enough for private events up to 50 seated guests or 60 for reception-style. Indaco can also accommodate large parties without renting out the entire space. If you have a party of 11 or more, you will be required to dine family-style, which allows every guest to try a variety of dishes without incurring a private room fee or food and beverage minimum.

The Menu

Indaco offers a diverse range of dishes that include house-made pasta by chef Elton Morris, pasta fillings, warm focaccia (made daily), pizza dough, and sausage. The restaurant strives to use locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible and also imports ingredients from Italy. Some of the menu items may change weekly depending on the availability of seasonal ingredients. However, you can always expect to see classic dishes like meatballs, burrata, and Tagliatelle with a unique twist that matches the season. You can also expect a robust Italian wine menu, Italian cocktails, draft beers, and weekend brunch.

Chef Marks recommends trying the Spicy Soppressata Pizza, which is made with San Marzano tomato DOP, mozzarella, basil, and drizzled with honey. Be sure to order it on your next visit to Indaco.
